"Arbor Terrace is very homey. The staff is very nice and I can easily communicate with them. This has been my first place away from home. The staff was so caring when they helped me adjust to assisted living. I especially like joining in activities. I enjoy arts & crafts, creative cooking club, and karaoke." - Diana, resident since 2003

Wellness Program

Welcome to our Wellness Program. Arbor Terrace offers more than just games. We strive to provide engaging and meaningful opportunities for our residents every day in group settings and individual activities. Our Wellness Program is built around six wellness components: Physical, Spiritual, Emotional, Intellectual, Social, and Vocational. Each wellness component plays an important role in a person's overall wellbeing. Participation in wellness program activities is entirely optional - we will support you with your participation goals.

Physical

The physical component recognizes the need for regular physical activity, as well as encourages learning about diet and nutrition. Physical wellness benefits often lead to psychological benefits of enhanced self-esteem, self-control, determination and a sense of direction. We offer safe and tailored exercise programs for residents that are age and ability appropriate, which may include light stretching, tai chi, chair aerobics, strength training, and walking groups.

Spiritual

The spiritual component recognizes your search for meaning and purpose in life. We offer a variety of religious programming opportunities by partnering with local church groups and volunteers. We also have non-religious activities to promote inner peace and relaxation, which may include nature walks, mediation, and guided imagery.

Emotional

The emotional component recognizes awareness and acceptance of your feelings. Emotional wellness allows you to manage your feelings and related behaviors including the realistic assessment of your limitations, development of autonomy, and ability to cope with stress. We work to form interdependent relationships with others based upon a foundation of mutual commitment, trust, and respect. We provide opportunities for residents to build strong, lasting friendships with peers and staff alike, and encourage individuals to express themselves in positive and healthy ways through reminiscing, discussion, and art.

Intellectual

The intellectual component recognizes your need for creative, stimulating mental activities. Using intellectual and cultural programs combined with learning resources available within the community, residents can achieve intellectual growth and stimulation. We encourage residents to continue exploring, maintain problem solving skills, creativity, and the desire to learn as they age. We offer educational activities, brain fitness exercises, as well as library services to all residents. Intellectual programs can be adjusted to suit a variety of memory and cognitive ability levels.

Social

The social component recognizes the interdependence between your environment and your community. We support residents who wish to take an active part in improving our world by seeking ways to enhance personal relationships and important friendships, and build a better living space and community. Many of our group programs offer residents the chance to interact in a casual setting with other residents, staff, family, volunteers, and members of the community, whether it is playing a card game, taking part in church services, visiting a local restaurant, or enjoying musical entertainment.

Vocational

The vocational component recognizes personal satisfaction and enrichment in your life through work. Residents are encouraged to contribute their unique gifts, skills, and talents to purpose driven work that is personally meaningful and rewarding through volunteering, donation of created works, gardening projects, and other means of philanthropy. We currently have a number of resident driven sewing, knitting, and crocheting groups who donate items such as blankets, sock, and hats to local charities.
